Meet Julie - Health Economics and Market Access Manager
Bristol-Myers Squibb Canada
At the age of 20, Julie had a scare with Hodgkin’s lymphoma where she underwent surgery to remove her lymph nodes. Then at age 25, Julie got the news that her mother was diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer – an emotional storm leaving her feeling out of control. All Julie and her family could do was enjoy the time they had left with their loved one.
Julie is grateful to not only be a pharmacist who is able to offer empathy to her patients and their caregivers, but also part of the team at Bristol-Myers Squibb who works hard, every day, to help patients get access to innovative new therapies needed for advanced cancers.
“Ongoing efforts are needed to address key challenges experienced by cancer patients in limited therapy options.”
She believes that ongoing efforts are needed to address key challenges experienced by cancer patients with limited therapy options and to ensure patients receive every chance for improved survivorship. “I was recently introduced to a patient living with lung cancer who held my hand and told me to keep up the good work. I was completely moved by this simple message.”
Julie is hopeful that by working together for patients, we can overcome barriers that exist to allow us to better listen and understand patients.
Who is Julie working for? She is working for all patients who need to be heard.
