Over 300 employees across Canada take part in second annual Community Action Day

MONTREAL, CANADA – (June 12, 2009) – Today marks the second annual Bristol-Myers Squibb Canada (“BMS”) Community Action Day. The event will unite over 300 BMS employees from across Canada to give back to their local communities by volunteering at various organizations.

After a successful inaugural BMS Community Action Day in 2008, the second annual event has been expanded to a cross-country initiative that will bring together BMS employees and retirees and their family members and also BMS external partners to spend the day on diverse volunteer projects. For BMS employees it is a chance to live up to the company's pledge to lend a helping hand in communities where they do business.

In the Montreal area, employees will volunteer today to help community groups including Moisson Montréal, a food bank, Héritage Laurentien, an environmental protection organization and the West Island Cancer Wellness Center. Employee projects include painting rooms, cleaning the Lachine Rapids shores, cooking meals and planting trees donated by BMS to schools of the St-Laurent borough.

As part of Community Action Day 2009, BMS will also hold a health clinic at its head offices for their Montreal TechnoParc neighbours to stop by and have their blood pressure checked and their blood sugar levels measured, to enjoy a chair-massage or receive advice from a nutritionist, a pharmacist or a career and life coach. The clinic will also include information workshops on a number of health topics. These services will be offered in exchange for a minimal donation and all proceeds from this activity will be donated to charity organizations within the community.
